In the wider region, the city of Murcia is the seventh largest in Spain and is home to a plethora of cultural attractions and historic landmarks. As well as an excellent retail scene, the city hosts numerous festivals throughout the year. There’s also a zoo and waterpark, providing fun for family members of all ages. The ancient city of Cartagena, meanwhile, offers plentiful museums and archaeological artefacts. To the north of the Murcia region, Yecla, Bullas and Jumilla are three very famous wine districts that are well worth a visit.
In terms of the property market in Mar Menor, and in Murcia generally, now is an excellent time to buy. The new Corvera international airport that opened in 2019, brings an influx of visitors from the UK, Ireland and other European locations. The heightened connectivity may well lead to a localised property boom, as has happened in other areas of Spain as a result of airports opening new routes.
